About the event
BRAYS BAYOU ASSOCIATION MEETING In PERSON and via Zoom, see link below Monday March 20th, 7:30pm 4300 West Bellfort 77025 Willow Meadows Baptist - FELLOWSHIP HALL Join ZOOM Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84763551772?pwd=MHZrcnp4amV2ZkFDOUU4VC8rdFdEZz09 Should flood barriers for homes and businesses be outlawed? Should ordinances be passed allowing for fines between $10,000-250,000, per structure, if a flood barrier is utilized during a high water event? A while back I asked the City of Houston to look into the possibility of creating an ordinance and or guidelines pretaining to the use of flood barriers. Mayor Turner instructed Council Member David Robinson to explore the issue. Has there been any followup? Grant it, this interaction with the Houston was before Covid. We'll talk pros/cons and encourage attendees to participate in the discussion. MORE UPSTREAM DENTION is in the works! That's $45 million worth of detention and it is "projected" to reduce the risk of flooding for 2,500 structures and reduce the frequency and duration of flooding along 100 miles of roadway during an Atlas 14 "1 in a 100 year." We'll have the lowdown on the project, including who the players are and the ongoing efforts to cover the $16.5 million needed to greenlight project. $32.5 million is already in place. 610 Feeder Road Bridge at N. Braeswood update. The latest on the Project Brays Tree Planting Phase for the area from just east of Buffalo Speedway to just west of Hillcroft, and the community driven Sponsor a Tree program. We are also waiting on confirmation from a "special guest" or two. There's a lot going on in the world right now, so it is understandable that commitments are hard to promise. We should know in a couple days and will send out an update with the meeting reminder. We look forward to seeing everyone, in PERSON or via Zoom!
